    Climate Warriors Recycling

    By Jordan Sukkau | Classic | 0 comment | 29 June, 2023 | 8

    VISION

The five 5th-grade students who participated in the Climate Action Youth Forum chose recycling as their project. Our school currently recycles, but many students are unaware of what items they can recycle, where to recycle them, and how to recycle properly. We aim to enhance the existing recycling program to support climate sustainability in our school and community.

    ACTION

To achieve their objectives, they created new colorful signs for all recycling bins using the Canva app. After completing the signs, we laminated them and posted them in the appropriate places.

With the grant money, we purchased new bins for items that we are not currently recycling (as mentioned in #2 above) and replacement bins for juice boxes, cans, and bottles that needed to be replaced.

Lastly, the Climate Action Warriors created a PowerPoint presentation to provide students and staff with a clear understanding of the impact of recycling on our school, community, and the world. They visited each classroom, delivering their presentation and using examples of recyclable items to demonstrate recycling methods.

    REFLECTION & CELEBRATION

The Climate Warriors are committed to continuing their recycling efforts throughout their time at RJDS. They plan to pass on their duties and the responsibility of educating the new generation of students to younger students who follow them.

At RJDS, a solid academic curriculum is the essence of what we provide. Offering small class sizes where individual attention is the norm, our students’ results are nothing short of exceptional.
